Re: Tamiya Mini Class
Just posted on Tamiyausa's website: 2011's Mini Class rules:
Mini Rules
The Mini’s are for everyone wanting to race close and have fun doing it! This class is ideal for
any intermediate racing hobbyist wanting to keep racing simple and fun. It is very
competitive, but without the pressure!
1. Legal chassis platforms: M03, M05 and M06 chassis cars that use the 60D size tire
or smaller.
2. Current TAMIYA Mini bodies available for the M03, M05 and M06 are legal.
3. FWD minis must use FWD body types. RWD minis must use RWD body types.
4. New for 2011: Spec Tires, item 1016 Pre-Mounted Radial Tires 60D Super-Grip
(4pcs) must be used for all regional races. The rim color used on the Spec tire is
unique to the pre-mount. The style rim used is the Suzuki swift spoke.
5. Motor Rules: Tamiya 540-J motor (item 53689)
6. Motor RPM Limits will be imposed at all TCS Regional races. Limits TBD
7. Tamiya internal gears only. Aftermarket idler and spur gears are not legal.
8. Battery rules: Any Legal TCS battery. See general rules above. Note: LIPO battery
packs used in the Mini class must be a rounded profile, hard case, stick pack
configuration.
9. All M-chassis cars must meet a minimum weight of 1250 grams
ELECTRONICS
13. Any manufacturer’s electronic speed control, radio equipment, servo saver, antenna
pipe, antenna mount, pinion and spur gears, ball bearing, tire inserts are allowed in all
classes, unless exceptions are noted within class specific rules.
14. 2.4 GHz, 27 MHz or 75 MHz are the only radio frequencies permitted. A minimum of 2
alternate channel frequencies is required when using 27 MHz and 75 MHz radios.
15. Personal AMB-it transponders are preferred, but not required. For more
information about these transponders please visit http://www.ambit.
com/ambrc-c-16.html Most host sites will have “house” loaner transponders.
BATTERIES
16. The batteries allowed for the 2011 season are:
a. NiCd and NiMh batteries that are legal for TCS are the same ones found on the ROAR
approved list as seen here: http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/sbattery.php
b. Hard Cased LIPO batteries are legal for all classes. See specific class rules for
limitations and exceptions.
- 3 -
c. TCS legal LIPO batteries must be 7.4 volts 2S-1P/2P specification. TCS legal LIPO
batteries may not exceed 6000 MAh capacity. See class specific rules as MAH and C rating
may be limited for a particular class. You may use the ROAR approved LIPO list found here
as a guide and reference to the 7.4 Volt 2S-1P batteries that will be permitted for TCS:
http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/lipobattery.php
d. NOTE: Despite the ROAR approved list, All TCS legal LIPOS must have a Molded
Plastic, Hard Case! Soft case packs are not legal for the TCS series.
e. Sport packs that are readily available at hobby stores are legal as long as they are
assembled from the general hobby industry i.e. Orion, Peak, Reedy, Duratrax, Dynamite,
Trinity and Hobbico etc.
17. Batteries that are purchased direct from Sanyo, Panasonic, Intellect or Gold Peak that
have no hobby industry branding are not legal. These batteries include those that are
used in power tools and have a solid colored shrink-wrapping to them. Racers that still
own batteries such as the Sanyo NI-CD 2000, 1400, 1700 or 1200 are allowed as long
as they have the original hobby industry shrink-wrap.
18. LIPO TECH rule: In the interest of safety and fairness, all LIPO batteries will
be volt metered at TECH prior to a “race or qualifying” heat. LIPO batteries
exceeding 8.44 volts will not be allowed to race on the track until they have
been discharged to meet the 8.44 rule.
19. Any battery connector or direct hard wiring to the battery is allowed.

Of course I vote...allow M-04's to continue racing (if one shows up) although they seem to be left off of the 2011 list.

Re: Tamiya Mini Class
Those rules sound great to me! I would also like to run any body for club races... but I can live without it.
BTW I really wasn't trying to make any waves in the other post, I just wanted to know the rules we(RC Riot) are going to follow. I don't think it gets any more clear than TCS rules! Thanks for the clarification!
Jay
Oh yeah whos going to practice tonight?

Re: Tamiya Mini Class
Just so everyone knows RCRIOT will support what the racers decide on the rules however we will not be teching these cars. This is a fun class and it should be treated as a fun great way to get started class. What that means is police yourselves tech each others cars if you want. If there comes a time where a racer doesn't want to conform to the rules and is being unrully then I will step in and give them the option of following or leaving. There are plenty of classes with strict rules and heavy inforcing and don't think we need to do this to mini, agreed?

Re: Tamiya Mini Class
Don't think I'll have my mini finished by sat. I'm trying to convince myself to start building it today and will probably wander off from it ever couple hours..
Also still waiting on the 8 remaining traxxas bearings to come in the mail.
Should have my TC ready with a couple of the new upgrades by then though.

Zac I know you ordered the bearings already, but I'm sure RC Riot has the bearings you need in stock... it's a pretty common size.

Re: Tamiya Mini Class
Yeah I just stumbled upon the 2011 stuff...I agree any Mini Body. Like Sean said...fun class run a mini, silver can, rounded battery...we can agree on a spec tamiya tire (SG's)...to minimize expenses...any M-chassis and body sounds great to me.
I just found a Colt VW M-03 body on ebay so Ill be doing up a Herbie body!
Be back in a week! Will be at the Dec 18?? race.

Re: Tamiya Mini Class
I am unfortunatley still in Arkansas...I won't be back until Dec 10th. Asa tells me the next race thereafter is the 18th...I will definatley blow the dust off of the M-03 and fix my son's (Jordan's) servo in his and we will be there.
Lots of trips by the AF latley...been a rough year for the family as I've been home very limitedly. I really hope to unpack on the 10th and stay there a while...

Re: Tamiya Mini Class
Sidenote...I am glad Tamiya is going to offer pre-mount Supergrips as the spec tire...I say we use them too...how easy is that? I love the pre-mounts...normally come out better than mu glue-finger monstrocities.

Pual I feel your pain. Since Aug 09 it's been:
Texas: 4 1/2 months
Washington 1 month
Pensacola 1 week
Arkansas 6 1/2 months
New Mexico 3 weeks but it's going to b 5 months
Sure I've had little breaks here and there, but between Ark and NM I only had 9 days with my old lady... that's including the time I had to put in at work for in/out processing and travel vouchers....
Its starting to get pretty old. Maybe I need a girlfriend?

J-model!!!!! Your dead to me lol! I'm with the 9th SOS at Eglin/Hurlburt. I'm a new engineer so that's why I have all of this school back to back. Once I hit the flightline I'll be assigned to the 550th for the rest of my training.

I just did a lot of research on how to make 540J motors faster(legally). Between that and going to practice twice a week I guess it all paid off. We'll see how "good" I really am when some of the heavy hitters (Pual) start coming to the races LOL!

Faron I'll be there Thursday for some paractice.

Pual (everyone) I wont be at the race on the 18th, I'm flying back to Florida for X-mas and wont be back until the 2nd
